Actor Rajpal Yadav has surrendered at Tihar Jail after his last attempt for an extension was rejected by the Delhi High Court in a 15-year-old cheque bounce case. The case stems from a ₹5 crore loan taken in 2010 for his film Ata Pata Laapata, which failed at the box office. Several bounced cheques led to his 2018 conviction, with interest and penalties raising the total liability to nearly ₹9 crore. Despite repeated delays, the court declined further leniency, prompting his surrender. In response, actors Sonu Sood, Gurmeet Choudhary, and politician Tej Pratap Yadav extended their support, offering financial and professional assistance.
