THE BHOOTNII movie Review: Sometimes the world pushes you toward bad Choices. Watching Bhootni was one of them

Movie Review by Prashant Shukla

Plot:

At St. Vincent College stands a mysterious “Virgin Tree,” home to a spirit that awakens every Valentine’s Day, said to grant wishes to those seeking their soulmate. But one unfortunate day, an evil spirit emerges from the tree, and a para-psychiatrist named Baba must save the college using his mystical gadgets.

The Performances:

The performances in Bhootni aren’t exactly memorable – nor are they outright bad; they simply exist. Sanjay Dutt makes an effort, while Sunny Singh, Mouni Roy, and Palak Tiwari often try too hard, but never rise above just being decent. On the other hand, Aasif Khan and Nikunj (aka Beyounick), as the comic relief duo, manage to squeeze out a few laughs here and there.

Writing & Direction:

Writer-director Siddhant Sachdev seems to have had some cool ideas on paper, but never a clear vision of how to execute them. If the film could be summed up in one word, it would be: random. From overly caricatured characters to a wildly fictitious world-where a college management meeting looks more like a CBI interrogation room-it’s all topped off by the hit-and-miss nature of the dialogues.

The Technical Aspects:

The Bhootnii is scary… for the eyes. Whether it’s the Frankenstein-style editing, overly saturated frames, abysmal VFX, or cartoonish sound effects – every element tests your tolerance. The film falters in every technical department, leaving no stone unturned in ruining your viewing experience

Predictable:

As an audience, you naturally start guessing the twist – especially when a film keeps hinting that one’s coming. You do the same while watching The Bhootnii, and surprisingly, the twist you imagine in your head ends up being far better than what the film actually delivers. Can you imagine? Managing to fall short of even your lowest expectations is an unfortunate achievement that The Bhootnii proudly unlocks. Lazy writing or missed opportunity? No one knows.

Final Verdict:

In conclusion, ‘The Bhootnii’ can be summed up with the cliché phrase: “A horror comedy that has neither horror nor comedy.”
