How is the film Need For Speed?

Scott Waugh directed and co-edited the 2014 action thriller Need for Speed, which was written by George and John Gatins. It is a movie version of Electronic Arts’ racing video game franchise of the same name.

Aaron Paul, Dominic Cooper, Scott Mescudi, Imogen Poots, Ramón Rodrguez, and Michael Keaton star in the film. It relates the narrative of Tobey Marshall, a street racer who decides to race cross-country to avenge his friend’s death at the hands of a rival racer, Dino Brewster.

DreamWorks Studios committed to a movie based on Electronic Arts’ Need for Speed video game series in July 2012, with a release date of February 7, 2014, and later March 14, 2014. By April of that year, brothers George and John Gatins had created a script that was being sent to studios.

Taylor Kitsch was offered the main part in July 2012, but Aaron Paul was cast in October of that year. Paul had originally auditioned for the role of Dino Brewster, but director Scott Waugh and DreamWorks CEO Steven Spielberg opted against it and hired him in the starring role instead. Imogen Poots was cast as the female lead in the film the same month. Dominic Cooper, Scott Mescudi, Ramón Rodrguez, Rami Malek, and Harrison Gilbertson were cast in the film in January of 2013. In February 2013, Michael Keaton was cast.

Touchstone Pictures released Need for Speed in 3D, IMAX 3D, and traditional cinemas on March 14, 2014. After its debut, the picture garnered mostly unfavorable reviews, with some acclaim for Paul’s acting. It was panned for its direction, illogical story, and implausible action scenes. The film was an international success, grossing $ 203 million.
