G. Ashok’s Hindi-language horror movie Durgamati is a replica of his original Telugu-Tamil bilingual film Bhaagamathie, which was released in 2020. Bhumi Pednekar plays an IAS official in the film, which also stars Arshad Warsi, Jisshu Sengupta, and Mahie Gill.
Bhushan Kumar, Akshay Kumar, and Vikram Malhotra produce the film for T-Series, Cape of Good Films, and Abundantia Entertainment. On November 30, 2019, the film’s formal announcement was made. The first shot was taken in Madhya Pradesh on January 23, 2020, and filming began on January 30. Due to the COVID-19 epidemic, the film will be available to stream worldwide on Amazon Prime Video starting December 11, 2020.
Jakes Bejoy composed the film’s score, and Tanishk Bagchi, Naman Adhikari, Abhinav Sharma, and Malini Awasthi composed the songs, with Tanishk Bagchi and Dipti Misra writing the lyrics.
The film revolves around the lives of an investigating officer (Mahie Gill) who engages Pednekar’s character to solve a case of idol theft from the Durgamati haveli. At the same time, we meet Ishwar Prasad (Arshad Warsi), a pragmatic and brutal politician. With the help of Chauhan, Gill’s character wants to throw Prasad in difficulty in order to expose his evil acts.
