Former Bollywood actress Divya Rana is best known for her appearance in Raj Kapoor’s Ram Teri Ganga Maili. Divya began her acting career with Raj Kapoor’s youngest son Rajiv Kapoor’s film Ek Jaan Hain Hum (1983). Raj Kapoor’s Ram Teri Ganga Maili (1985), co-starring Rajiv Kapoor and Mandakini, cast her as the second lead.
Later in her career, Divya appeared in films such as Watan Ke Rakhwale, Ek Hi Maqsad, Aasmaan (1984), Maa Kasam (1985), Param Dharam, and others.
Her sculptures are created using a combination of wheel-thrown and hand-built techniques. She exhibited her art in the Potter’s Market, which is currently taking place at the Gauhar Mahal in India. Divya ceased acting after her marriage and now goes by the name Salma Manekia, and she lives in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, with her husband Fazal.
‘She hopes that her unfinished film ’20 Rupees,’ starring Nana Patekar and directed by Chandra Barot of “Don’ (1978) fame, would be finished and released at some point. After leaving the film industry, she pursued a career as a serious photographer and created clay sculptures. She claimed in 2012 that she planned to shoot ladies from the Kutch region of India and also participate in a theatre play, but not as a performer, but as a member of the backstage crew. In 2017, she said that her childhood passion for textiles led to a professional career as a clothing designer.
