How is the film Midway?

Midway is a 2019 war movie about the Battle of Midway, a pivotal battle in World War II’s Pacific Theater. Wes Tooke wrote the screenplay and was directed by Roland Emmerich, who also produced the film alongside Harald Kloser. Ed Skrein, Patrick Wilson, Luke Evans, Aaron Eckhart, Nick Jonas, Mandy Moore, Dennis Quaid, Tadanobu Asano, Darren Criss, and Woody Harrelson are among the cast members.

Emmerich’s movie was a passion project for him, and he struggled to acquire financial backing for it before ultimately raising enough money and unveiling the project in 2017. The majority of the cast joined in the summer of 2018, and filming began in Hawaii in September. In addition, some filming took done in Montreal. It is one of the most costly independent movies of all time, with a production budget of $100 million.

On November 8, 2019, Lionsgate released Midway in theatres around the United States. It garnered mixed reviews from critics, while it was hailed for its historical authenticity, and it was a box office disaster, generating only $126 million worldwide against a budget of $100 million.

It went on to earn $17.5 million in its opening weekend, exceeding predictions and surprising presumptive winner Doctor Sleep by taking first place at the box office. The film generated $8.8 million in its second weekend, ranking second behind newcomer Ford v Ferrari, before earning $4.7 million in its third weekend and finishing fifth.
