How is the movie My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission?

My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission is a Japanese animated superhero movie released in 2021. It is the third movie based on Kohei Horikoshi’s My Hero Academia manga series. The movie is produced by Bones and directed by Kenji Nagasaki from a script by Yosuke Kuroda. The film stars Daiki Yamashita, Nobuhiko Okamoto, and Yuki Kaji in an ensemble cast. Izuku Midoriya and his classmates join the Pro-Heroes from around the world for a mission to halt a terrorist plan that will kill humans in the movie, which takes place during the Endeavor Agency Arc of the manga.

A crucial visual featuring Midoriya, Katsuki Bakugo, and Shoto Todoroki was released in November 2020, hinting at a third feature. The movie was formally confirmed for a 2021 release just a week after it was first revealed. The movie’s full title was released in March 2021, along with the release date. Horikoshi was responsible for the film’s original storyline and character designs.

My Hero Academia: World Heroes' Mission

On August 6, 2021, the movie opened in Japan, and on October 29, it was distributed in the United States and Canada. Critics have given it mostly positive reviews, and it has made $41.1 million worldwide.

Outside of Japan, the picture made $6.4 million in its first weekend in the United States and Canada, placing it fourth behind No Time to Die and The Reluctant Fundamentalist (2021). The picture earned $169,268 in Australia in its opening weekend, placing fifth, and $293,000 in the United Kingdom and Ireland across 260 theatres.
