Which is the first American Pie movie?

Paul Weitz directed and co-produced American Pie, a 1999 American sex comedy coming of age movie written by Adam Herz. Jason Biggs, Chris Klein, Alyson Hannigan, Natasha Lyonne, Thomas Ian Nicholas, Tara Reid, Mena Suvari, Eddie Kaye Thomas, Seann William Scott, and Eugene Levy star in the movie, which is the first in the American Pie theatrical series.

The plot revolves around five East Great Falls High School friends. The youths, except Stifler, establish a vow to lose their virginity before graduating from high school. After being advised that third base feels like ‘warm apple pie,’ the protagonist is caught masturbating with a pie in the title scene. The title also relates to the ‘American as apple pie’ desire of losing one’s virginity in high school, according to writer Adam Herz.

The film was a box office success, and three direct sequels were released: American Pie 2 (2001), American Wedding (2003), and American Reunion (2004). There are five direct-to-DVD spin-off movies titled American Pie Presents: Band Camp (2005), The Naked Mile (2006), Beta House (2007), The Book of Love (2009), and Girls’ Rules, in addition to the main American Pie narrative (2020).

On August 4, 2012, a fifth theatrical picture, titled American Pie 5, was announced in response to the popularity of the American Reunion. Seann William Scott indicated in an interview in August 2017 that the fourth picture had probably not made enough money in the domestic box office to warrant a sequel.
