Which was the first Hollywood movie?

The Count of Monte Cristo, which began production in Chicago and was completed in Hollywood in 1908, was the first film to be completed in the United States. In Old California, a short film filmed entirely in Hollywood was released in 1910. The first movie studio opened on Sunset Boulevard in 1911.

The Count of Monte Cristo is a French adventure novel published in 1844 by Alexandre Dumas (père). Along with The Three Musketeers, it is one of the author’s most well-known works. It was expanded from narrative outlines supplied by his collaborating ghostwriter Auguste Maquet, as were many of his books.

During the historical events of 1815–1839: the era of the Bourbon Restoration through the reign of Louis-Philippe of France, the story takes place in France, Italy, and the Mediterranean islands. It begins on the day Napoleon set sail from Elba, his first island of exile, and marks the start of the Hundred Days, during which Napoleon regained power.

The book’s historical backdrop is an important part of the plot, which is centered on themes of hope, justice, revenge, mercy, and forgiveness. It revolves around a guy who is wrongfully imprisoned, escapes, amasses wealth, and vows to seek vengeance on those guilty for his incarceration.
Edmond Dantès, a nineteen-year-old Frenchman and first mate of the Pharaon, is wrongly accused of treason, captured, and imprisoned without trial in the Château d’If, a dismal island castle outside Marseille, before he can marry his fiancée Mercédès.

Today, the novel is regarded as a literary classic. ‘The Count of Monte Cristo has become a fixture of Western civilization’s literature, as inescapable and instantly recognizable as Mickey Mouse and the fable of Little Red Riding Hood,’ according to Lucy Sante.
