Kevin Norwood Bacon, also known as Kevin Bacon, is an American actor who was born on July 8, 1958. Herbert Ross directed the 1984 American musical drama movie Footloose. It tells the story of Ren McCormack, a Chicago youngster who travels to a rural village and tries to overturn a local minister’s prohibition on dancing.

The movie garnered mixed reviews from critics but was a box office success, collecting $80 million in North America and ranking seventh among 1984’s highest-grossing films. The songs ‘Footloose’ by Kenny Loggins and ‘Let’s Hear It for the Boy’ by Deniece Williams were nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song for the movie.
Dean Pitchford, an Academy Award-winning songwriter for the title song for the 1980 movie Fame, had the idea for Footloose in 1979 and teamed up with Melnick’s IndieProd to produce the picture at 20th Century Fox in 1981.

The movie was shot in Utah County, Utah, at various locations. Payson and Payson High School were used to shoot the high school and tractor sequences. The church sequences were shot in American Fork, and the steel factory was filmed in Vineyard at the Geneva Steel facility.
