Mumbai’s iconic Siddhivinayak Temple will prohibit devotees from bringing coconuts, garlands, and prasad like laddoos as offerings starting May 11, the temple trust announced on Friday.
Citing security reasons, Trust Chairman Sada Sarvankar said the temple remains on the radar of terror threats, and coconuts which evade standard screening, could pose a risk.
There is also concern that prasad could be tampered with or poisoned. The move is aimed at safeguarding the thousands of devotees who visit the shrine daily.
