Where is Kalpana Kartik now?

Kalpana Kartik is a retired Hindi film actress who was born Mona Singh on August 19, 1931. In the 1950s, she appeared in six films. She is the widow of Dev Anand, a late Hindi cinema actor, and director. While attending St. Bede’s College in Shimla, Mona Singh was a beauty queen.

Chetan Anand of Navketan Films introduced him to films with the 1951 film Baazi. She featured alongside Dev Anand, with whom she would go on to work in all of her subsequent films. During this time, Chetan Anand assigned her the screen name Kalpana Kartik. Aandhiyan (1952), Humsafar (1953), Taxi Driver (1954), House No. 44 (1954), and Nau Do Gyarah (1957) were among her other features films.

Mona Singh, alias Kalpana Kartik, was born in Lahore, Pakistan, to a Punjabi Christian family. Her father was a Tehsildar in the Gurdaspur District town of Batala, and she was the youngest of five brothers and sisters. Her family relocated to Shimla after the partition. She won the Ms. Shimla pageant during her graduating year and was spotted by Chetan Anand, a Bombay-based filmmaker.

During a break from filming Taxi Driver in 1954, Mona and Dev Anand married in secret. Suneil Anand was born in 1956, and they became parents. Kalpana left acting after Nau Do Gyarah and became a stay-at-home mom.
