Is Mela movie was a flop?

Dharmesh Darshan directed Mela, a 2000 Indian action masala film. Aamir Khan, his real-life brother Faisal Khan, and Twinkle Khanna star in the film. This movie did a poor performance at the box office and was considered a flop.

The female lead part was first given to Karishma Kapoor, who had previously worked with Dharmesh Darshan in the 1996 film Raja Hindustani, but she declined to owe to scheduling conflicts. Sonali Bendre and Raveena Tandon were both offered lead roles. However, due to scheduling conflicts, both actresses were unable to participate in the film. Twinkle Khanna was cast as the lead role. Mela was inspired by the 1971 film Caravan, according to Darshan in an interview.

Aditya Pancholi was cast as the villain, but he declined since he did not want to be shown with his chest exposed throughout the film. Aamir Khan approached and urged A. R. Rahman to create music for the film, but Rahman declined to owe to schedule restrictions. The music was then composed by four composers: Anu Malik, Rajesh Roshan, and Leslie Lewis wrote the songs, while Surinder Sodhi wrote the film score. Dev Kohli, Dharmesh Darshan, and Sameer wrote all of the lyrics.

The song placements in this film were widely panned, especially the overuse of the title track ‘Mela Dilon Ka.’ In addition, the lyrics were deemed improper since they were paradoxical and conflicting in character.
