How is the film The Nun?

The Nun is a 2018 American supernatural horror film directed by Corin Hardy and written by Gary Dauberman and James Wan based on a screenplay by Dauberman and Wan. It is the fifth episode in the Conjuring Universe franchise and a spin-off/prequel to 2016’s The Conjuring 2.

Demián Bichir, Taissa Farmiga, and Jonas Bloquet star in the film, with Bonnie Aarons reprising her role as the Demon Nun from The Conjuring 2. The story follows a Roman Catholic priest and a nun on her novitiate in 1952 Romania as they unearth an awful secret. The Nun, a spin-off film from The Conjuring 2, which had premiered five days before, was announced by Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema, with Safran and Wan producing.

David Leslie Johnson wrote the first draft of the film’s script. Hardy had agreed to helm The Nun, which will be based on a new screenplay by Wan and Dauberman. Principal photography began in May 2017 in Bucharest, Romania, with an Eastern Orthodox priest blessing the set throughout filming.

Warner Bros. Pictures released The Nun in the United States on September 7, 2018. The film’s performances and atmosphere were appreciated by critics, while the plot and logic were critiqued. It earned $365 million worldwide, making it the series’ highest-grossing film. Akela Cooper is writing the script, and James Wan and Peter Safran are co-producing the film.
