While posing on the Met Gala red carpet in 2023, New York paparazzi mistake Alia Bhatt for Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
Bollywood starlet Alia Bhatt makes a stunning entrance at the renowned Met Gala 2023 wearing an outstanding design by Prabal Gurung. She seemed stunningly lovely in a couture ball gown with a trailing skirt bottom that was 100,000 pearl-studded, strappy, and corseted. Alia was mistaken for Aishwarya Rai Bachchan by New York photographers as she was posing on the red carpet. She proceeded to pose and grin while gracefully handling the mishap.
On social media, a video of Alia being referred to as Aishwarya at the fashion event went viral and received mixed reviews. While Alia’s supporters defended her and attacked the international press, online users cracked hilarious jokes about the Raazi actress. The footage showed Alia climbing the steps with the assistance of her staff and posing for the on-site photographers. Some of the photographers misidentified her as “Aishwarya” as soon as she arrived at the event wearing Prabal Gurung.
This reminded Indian fans of how certain Indian papas had mispronounced and misspelt the names of various Hollywood celebrities at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Center inaugural event. One person said, “They are taking revenge for jhandeya and tommy.” Another said, “American paps taking their “yeh shakira hai kya” revenge.” One of the netizens mocked Alia and said, “oh no itni bestii.”
The Raazi actress posted a few of her lovely photos from the fashion show along with information about her outfit. Alia stated on Instagram that she wanted to wear something that “felt true” and was proudly manufactured in India for her Met Gala debut. In addition to Bhatt, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Isha Ambani, and Natasha Poonawalla all shone at the gala.
