Casting director Kavish Sinha says that as OTT platforms grow with hard-hitting content reaching global audiences, the casting process of any show is becoming very character-specific and performance-oriented.
Kaveesh has served as the casting director for the upcoming multi-starrer web series The Empire. The show stars Shabana Azmi, Kunal Kapoor, Dino Morea and Drishti Dhami among others.
Talking about the casting process, Kavish says, “The process of casting for a character is like making a delicious dish. One needs to know the true taste, feel and look of the character. OTT is a platform that is very character-oriented as the entire world is its audience.
“The audience is investing in us,” he said. It inspires all of us to deliver better content. Projects like The Empire, Mumbai Diaries-26/11, Rocket Boys and Rudra will place us in the world in terms of content. That’s why I love casting for them.
The Empire will stream on Disney Plus Hotstar from August 27.
