Will Netflix continue the sci-fi series that have been canceled?

The following is a list of science fiction and fantasy shows that were either canceled or ended during 2020-21 by Netflix television season. Several episodes from the previous season are included in this collection, for which the networks waited a long time to make a decision. Some programs are still waiting for word about their futures, which you can find out more about at this website. During the current season, keep an eye on this site as well as the Cancelled sci-fi Twitter Page for status updates and breaking news.

Amazing Stories (Apple TV+, Ended): Given that Apple TV+ is known for renewing its series early, the fact that there has been no information on the status of Amazing Stories a year after it debuted suggests that it is no longer on the air. There could be licensing issues here, and given the tepid reception to the first season, the streamer could not have been interested in purchasing additional episodes.

American Gods (Starz, Cancelled): After a dramatic drop in ratings from its first to second seasons, this show’s numbers fell even more in its third season, leading to its cancellation. However, there is still a chance that the show’s stories will be concluded in a final film.

Away (Netflix, Terminated): This was a surprising cancellation at the time it was announced (though we’ve come to expect it from Netflix since then), and no reason has been given for why it was canceled after only one season.

That’s a high-profile show that drew a sizable viewership at the start of its run. It’s also quite expensive to produce, and it’s probable that continuing the program under the current COVID manufacturing limits would have been prohibitively expensive. There’s no way of knowing whether or not this one will be shopped around to other places just yet.
The CW usually allows a show to run for at least 70 episodes after its second season, but the final season announcement for Black Lightning fell short of that. The Arrowverse may be in for some huge changes, which I’ll go over in more detail in a future article.

Castlevania (Netflix, Final Season): Netflix’s original shows normally end in the third or fourth season, hence this show’s fourth season has been confirmed as its final season. A spin-off series set in the same universe, on the other hand, could be developed.
