What is Jim Carrey’s last movie?

Chris Smith’s documentary film Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond – Featuring a Very Special, Contractually Obligated Mention of Tony Clifton (or simply Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond) was released in 2017. The video follows actor Jim Carrey as he stays in character as Andy Kaufman during the filming of Milo Forman’s Man on the Moon in 1999. It was made available for watching on Netflix on November 17, 2017.

The film weaves between current interviews with Carrey and eyewitness footage from the production of Man on the Moon nearly two decades ago. Universal Pictures suppressed the behind-the-scenes footage’ so that people wouldn’t think I was an asshole,’ according to Carrey.

The primary concept is that throughout the filming of the film, Carrey was so invested in the role that he, like Andy, had difficulty separating himself from the character to the point where others who knew Andy, including family and friends, felt as if they were seeing Andy again.

In September 2017, the film had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival. Following a screening at the Toronto Film Festival, Netflix purchased the film’s distribution rights later that month. On November 17, 2017, the film was released.
