Sir Ridley Scott’s younger brother, Scott, was a film director. They were both graduates of London’s Royal College of Art, and they were part of a group of British film filmmakers that made it big in Hollywood after starting out in television commercials. Tony and Ridley were both awarded the BAFTA Award for Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema in 1995. The BAFTA Britannia Award for Worldwide Contribution to Filmed Entertainment was given to them in 2010.

Scott committed suicide by jumping off the Vincent Thomas Bridge in Los Angeles’ San Pedro port district on August 19, 2012, at approximately 12:30 p.m. PDT.
