David Yates directed Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 in 2011, which was released by Warner Bros. Pictures. It is the eighth and final installment in the Harry Potter movie series, and the second of two cinematic portions based on J. K. Rowling’s 2007 novel of the same name. Steve Kloves wrote it, while David Heyman, David Barron, and J.K. Rowling produced it. The plot continues with Harry Potter’s search for and destruction of Lord Voldemort’s Horcruxes to put an end to him once and for all. Daniel Radcliffe plays Harry Potter, and Rupert Grint and Emma Watson play Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, Harry’s best friends. Principal photography started on February 19, 2009, and ended on June 12, 2010, with reshoots in December 2010.
Part 2 is the only Harry Potter movie to be released in 3-D, and it was released in 2D, 3-D, and IMAX theaters worldwide from July 13 to 15, 2011. The film was a box office hit and one of the most well-received movies of 2011, with praise for the performances, Yates’ direction, musical score, visual effects, cinematography, action sequences, and satisfying climax to the narrative.
The second part broke the global opening weekend record with $483.2 million, as well as broke opening day and opening weekend records in several countries. It earned more than $1.3 billion globally, making it the third-highest-grossing picture of all time and the highest-grossing movie of 2011.
In the United States, the Blu-ray and DVD sets were released on November 11, 2011, and in the United Kingdom on December 2, 2011. On DVD and Blu-ray, the movie was included in the Harry Potter: Complete 8-Film Collection box set, which contained all eight pictures as well as new bonus features. Parts 1 and 2 were released on DVD and Blu-ray as a combo pack on November 11, 2011, in Canada.
