Robert Selden Duvall, also known as Robert Duvall, is an American actor and filmmaker whose career spans more than seven decades. He was born on January 5, 1931. An Academy Award, four Golden Globe Awards, a BAFTA Award, two Primetime Emmy Awards, and a Screen Actors Guild Award have all been bestowed to him.
For the latter performance, Duvall received his fourth Academy Award nomination for best-supporting actor. Wild Horses (2015), a crime drama in which he also directed and co-wrote, and Widows (2018), a thriller, were two of his later films. Widows is a 2018 heist thriller movie directed by Steve McQueen and based on the 1983 British television series of the same name, with a script by Gillian Flynn and McQueen.
The story follows four Chicago women as they attempt to steal $5 million from a famous local politician’s home in order to repay a crime boss from whom the women’s husbands stole $2 million before being slain in a failed getaway attempt.
Viola Davis, Michelle Rodriguez, Elizabeth Debicki, Cynthia Erivo, Colin Farrell, Brian Tyree Henry, Daniel Kaluuya, Jacki Weaver, Carrie Coon, Robert Duvall, and Liam Neeson star in the picture, which is a British-American co-production. On a production budget of $42 million, the picture grossed $76 million worldwide and received several award nominations, including one for Davis for the BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role.
