George Timothy Clooney, an American actor, and filmmaker was born on May 6, 1961. The Midnight Sky is a George Clooney-directed American science fiction film set to be released in 2020, based on Lily Brooks-2016 Dalton’s novel Good Morning, Midnight. Mark L. Smith wrote the screenplay. Clooney stars in the film as an old scientist who must go across the icy Arctic Circle to warn off a returning interplanetary spaceship after a massive disaster on Earth. Felicity Jones, David Oyelowo, Tiffany Boone, Demián Bichir, Kyle Chandler, and Caoilinn Springall also stared in the movie.
On December 11, 2020, The Midnight Sky had a limited theatrical premiere before being distributed on Netflix on December 23. Critics gave it mixed reviews, however, the National Board of Review ranked it one of the top ten films of 2020. The film was nominated for Best Visual Effects at the 93rd Academy Awards but lost to Tenet.
The picture ranked 17th in the Netherlands on its first weekend, collecting $22,070 from 14 cinemas for an average of $1,576 per theatre. The film debuted fourth in South Korea, grossing $24,608 from 218 screens at an average of $112 per screen.
