In which Hollywood movie kids stop the Japanese war?

Unbroken is a 2014 Hollywood military film written by the Coen brothers, Richard LaGravenese, and William Nicholson, and produced and directed by Angelina Jolie. It is based on Laura Hillenbrand’s nonfiction book Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption, published in 2010.

Miyavi plays Imperial Japanese Army (IJA) corporal Mutsuhiro Watanabe, and Jack O’Connell plays American Olympian and Army officer Louis “Louie” Zamperini. After his bomber crashed into the ocean during WWII, Zamperini lived for 47 days in a raft before being caught by the Japanese and taken to a series of prisoner of war camps.

Unbroken

From October 2013 to February 2014, filming took done in Australia. Unbroken had its world premiere in Sydney on November 17, 2014, and its London premiere on November 26, 2014, at the Odeon Leicester Square. On December 25, 2014, the film was released in the United States.

Critics praised O’Connell’s performance, Deakins’ photography, sound, and Jolie’s direction, although it got mixed reviews. It was a commercial triumph, grossing $163 million around the world. Unbroken: Path to Redemption, a sequel to the film, was released in 2018.

Filming began on October 16, 2013, and was completed on February 4, 2014, in Queensland, Australia, with post-production also taking place there. Unbroken made $115.6 million in the United States and Canada, and $47.6 million in other regions, for a worldwide total of $163 million on a $65 million budget.
