Susan Abigail Sarandon, an American actress, and activist were born on October 4, 1946. She has won numerous awards and nominations, including an Academy Award, a BAFTA Award, and a SAG Award, as well as a Daytime Emmy Award, six Primetime Emmy Awards, and nine Golden Globe Awards. For her services to the film industry, she was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2002.
After performing in the soap series A World Apart (1970–1971), Sarandon began her acting career in the drama picture Joe (1970). She co-starred as a surrogate for Zelda Fitzgerald in the television film F. Scott Fitzgerald and ‘The Last of the Belles’ in 1974, and she played Janet Weiss in the musical comedy horror film The Rocky Horror Picture Show the following year.

Sarandon was named a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador in 1999 and earned the Action Against Hunger Humanitarian Award in 2006. She is also known for her social and political activities.
