How was the film, Auzaar?

Auzaar is a Hindi-language action thriller film directed by Sohail Khan and written by Anwar Khan that was released in 1997. Salman Khan, Sanjay Kapoor, and Shilpa Shetty feature in the film.

Suraj (Salman Khan), a cop, discovers that Yash’s (Sanjay Kapoor) father (Paresh Rawal) is involved in a criminal enterprise. He must now persuade Yash to make his father change his ways or risk backlash from his superiors for failing to confront him.

Sohail Khan had hoped to cast Aamir Khan in the part of Sanjay Kapoor, but he declined for unclear reasons. Sohail then approached Sanjay Dutt for the part, but he was already committed to Daud at the time. Sunny Deol was also in the running for the part. Kajol was approached about playing the female lead, but she declined. Shilpa Shetty was cast as the lead role.

Anu Malik composed the Auzaar soundtrack album. The song ‘I Love You, I Love You’ was allegedly copied from Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s ‘Allah Hoo, Allah Hoo’, a Pakistani Qawwali artist. Khan was said to be enraged when Malik changed his spiritual chant of ‘Allah Hoo, Allah Hoo’ to ‘I Love You, I Love You.’ “He has taken my devotional song Allahu and turned it into I love you,” Khan added. “At the very least, he should respect my religious tunes.”
