Locals say the railroad bridge site should have been a shrine because a Devi Maa idol was discovered buried there, but authorities refuse to believe them.

The film Mrugaraju is copied from the Hollywood film Ghost And The Darkness. The Ghost and the Darkness is a 1996 Hollywood historical adventure movie starring Val Kilmer and Michael Douglas and directed by Stephen Hopkins. The Tsavo man-eaters, a pair of male lions who terrified laborers in and around Tsavo, Kenya during the construction of the Uganda-Mombasa Railway in East Africa in 1898, are romanticized in the screenplay written by William Goldman.

The picture garnered poor reviews and was a box office flop, grossing only $75 million against a $55 million production budget. Bruce Stambler, the supervising sound editor, won the Academy Award for Best Sound Editing.
