Who is Vaishnav Girish?

Vaishnav Girish was a participant on the popular reality television shows Indian Idol in the year 2020, but he was disqualified. Girish, an Indian singer, and live performer was born on June 21, 2002. He has performed on various singing reality TV shows and has recorded Malayalam language songs for films. He rose to prominence after his audition for the 2017 season of Zee TV’s musical talent competition Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L’il Champs became a viral video online and received widespread media attention.

Vaishnav was born in Kodungallur, a town in Kerala’s Thrissur region. He is the son of A.K Girish Kumar, a former Canara Bank officer, and Mini V Menon, a lawyer in the Kerala High Court. Listening to his brother Krishnan Unni Girish’s songs, he learned Indian classical music piqued his interest in music.

Krishnan, a former vocalist for the Thrissur-based alternative rock band 1000cc, encouraged him to pursue singing. He began professional Carnatic music training at the age of four from Pavithran Kodungallur and continued under Noushad Kodungallur and Cherthala Shaji for school competitions and reality television shows.

In 2014, Vaishnav competed in Surya Singer 2, a Malayalam music reality show on Surya TV, where he won. His involvement in the second season of Indian Idol Junior, a reality television singing competition in India, won him attention in 2015. Before he finished third in the competition, he signed a two-year record deal with Universal Music India (UMI).

Vaishnav made his playback singing debut in the Malayalam film ‘Ankarajyathe Jimmanmar,’ composed by Girish Narayanan, in 2018. He was a competitor on the popular reality television show Indian Idol in 2020, but he was eliminated.
