Kevin Spacey, the Oscar-winning actor accused of assaulting a TV journalist’s family member. He was charged with a crime in December 2018 for allegedly sexually abusing journalist Heather Unruh’s 18-year-old son in July 2016 in Nantucket, Massachusetts.
On January 7, 2019, Spacey entered a not guilty plea to the case. During the alleged ‘groping’ event, Unruh’s son informed police he was texting with his girlfriend. Spacey’s lawyers spent months attempting to secure copies of the texts as well as the phone. Unruh’s son’s counsel informed the court in mid-May 2019 that the cell phone in question was ‘lost.’
Kevin Spacey Fowler is an American actor, producer, and singer who was born on July 26, 1959. During the 1980s, he began his career as a stage actor, eventually landing supporting roles in film and television. Mike Nichols’ Heartburn (1986) and Working Girl (1988) were Spacey’s debut feature roles.
In the 1990s, he won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the neo-noir criminal thriller The Usual Suspects (1995), as well as an Academy Award for Best Actor for his role in the midlife crisis drama American Beauty (1999).
In 1986, Spacey co-starred with Jack Lemmon in the Broadway production of Long Day’s Journey into Night. He earned a Tony Award for his performance in Lost in Yonkers in 1991. In 1999, he received his second Tony Award nomination for his performance in The Iceman Cometh.
From 2004 to mid-2015, he served as the artistic director of the Old Vic theatre in London. He hosted the 71st Tony Awards in 2017. Spacey starred as Frank Underwood in the Netflix political drama series House of Cards from 2013 to 2017, earning him a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor – Television Series Drama.
