Who is John Rambo?

John James Rambo, a fictitious character portrayed by Sylvester Stallone in the Rambo franchise, was born on July 6, 1947. He first debuted in David Morrell’s novel First Blood in 1972, but he is most known as the protagonist of the film series. Stallone received significant appreciation and recognition for his portrayal of the role. The character was nominated for the 100 Years…100 Heroes and Villains list by the American Film Institute.

The name “Rambo” is often used to characterize a lone wolf who is irresponsible, disobeys orders, solves all problems with violence, enters risky situations alone, and is unusually rough, harsh, raw, and violent. According to Morrell, the name Rambo was inspired by ‘the sound of might’ in the name of Rambo apples he came upon in Pennsylvania.
