Hollywood has always been a male-dominated industry, but that is beginning to change. Female characters made for 31% of lead characters in the top 100-grossing films in 2021, according to a report from San Diego State University’s Center for the Study of Women in Television and Film, a new high.
Scarlett Ingrid Johansson is an American actress who was born on November 22, 1984. She was the highest-paid actress in the world in 2018 and 2019 and has appeared on the Forbes Celebrity 100 list several times.
Johansson is the ninth-highest-grossing box office star of all time, with over $14.3 billion in worldwide box office receipts. She has received numerous awards, including a Tony Award and a British Academy Film Award, as well as two Academy Award nominations and five Golden Globe nominations. From a young age, Johansson longed to be an actress and made her stage debut as a child actor in an Off-Broadway show. Johansson has been married to comedian Colin Jost since 2020, after divorcing actor Ryan Reynolds and businessman Romain Dauriac. She has two children, one with Dauriac and the other with Jost.
