Is the movie Lion a true story?

The film Lion is based on a true story. It is based on Saroo Brierley’s non-fiction book A Long Way Home. Saroo’s journey from a five-year-old boy who was adopted by an Australian couple to his reunion with his biological family over 20 years later is chronicled in Lion.

Lion is a 2016 Australian biographical movie directed by Garth Davis, based on the 2013 non-fiction book A Long Way Home by Saroo Brierley and written by Luke Davies. Abhishek Bharate, Divian Ladwa, Priyanka Bose, Deepti Naval, Tannishtha Chatterjee, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui act alongside Dev Patel, Sunny Pawar, Rooney Mara, David Wenham, and Nicole Kidman. It is based on the story of Brierley, who sets out to find his family 25 years after being separated from them in India. Australia and the United Kingdom collaborated on the movie.

Lion

The Weinstein Company gave the movie a restricted release in the United States on November 25, 2016, before releasing it widely on January 6, 2017. It had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on October 10, 2016. It was released on January 19, 2017, in Australia and January 20, 2017, in the United Kingdom.

It was nominated for two BAFTAs: Best Supporting Actor (Patel) and Best Adapted Screenplay. The film was also a financial success, grossing $140 million worldwide, making it one of Australia’s highest-grossing movies of all time.
