Sanjay Gupta directed Kaabil, which was written by Vijay Kumar Mishra and produced by Rakesh Roshan under his FilmKraft Productions label. When his wife is assaulted and the criminals escape free, a blind voiceover artist grows disillusioned. He becomes a vigilante and vows to exact vengeance on those guilty for his wife’s death, all while eluding the cops with the falsehood that a blind man can kill someone.

Kaabil was released in theatres on January 25, 2017. At the 63rd Filmfare Awards, Roshan was nominated for a Filmfare Award for Best Actor for his performance. Despite a poor showing in China when it was released in 2019, the film was a commercial success.
