The Little Mermaid is a forthcoming American musical fantasy film directed by Rob Marshall and based on a screenplay by Jane Goldman and David Magee. It’s a live-action remake of the 1989 animated picture of the same name, which is partially based on Hans Christian Andersen’s tale with the same name.
Halle Bailey, Jonah Hauer-King, Javier Bardem, and Melissa McCarthy will star in the New Mermaid Movie, which will also feature Daveed Diggs, Jacob Tremblay, and Awkwafina in voice roles. On May 26, 2023, The Little Mermaid will be released in the United States.

Lin-Manuel Miranda, a fan of the original film, will co-produce the film alongside Marc Platt, it was announced on August 16, 2016. Miranda announced on February 10, 2020, that the film’s rehearsals had already begun.
Fans wanted singer Ariana Grande to play Ariel, and studio veterans Lindsay Lohan, Chris Evans, and Zendaya expressed interest in appearing in the adaptation. Filming was supposed to start in late March or early April 2020 in London, however, it was postponed owing to the COVID-19 epidemic.
