Manmohan Desai produced and directed the Hindi-language masala film Naseeb, which was written by Kader Khan and released in 1981. It’s a Manmohan Desai classic.
Amitabh Bachchan, Shatrughan Sinha, Rishi Kapoor, Hema Malini, Reena Roy, and Kim feature in the key roles, with Pran, Prem Chopra, Shakti Kapoor, Kader Khan, Amjad Khan, and Amrish Puri in supporting roles, as well as Jeevan in a tiny positive role.
Laxmikant–Pyarelal, a Manmohan Desai regular, composed the music. Naseeb was a box office triumph, being the second highest-grossing Bollywood film of 1981. Sandhippu (1983), starring Sivaji Ganesan and Prabhu Ganesan, and Trimurtulu (1987), starring Daggubati Venkatesh, were both remakes of the film. At the same time, Amitabh Bachchan and Shatrughan Sinha were filming three films. Dostana, Shaan, and Naseeb are three friends.
The one-week shoot for the star-studded song took place at R. K. Studios. Raj Kapoor, the Bollywood actor, was an important part of the song and the filming. The one-week shoot was a spectacular occasion.
The picture was an ‘All-Time Earner,’ receiving the highest rating (similar to All-Time Blockbuster today) from Trade Guide Bollywood box office magazine at the time, and was one of the few films to gross over one crore per area. Before 1984, there were only 13 All-Time Earners (those who earned more than one crore per area), and Naseeb was one among them.
