Shree Narayan Singh directed the 2017 Indian Hindi-language comedy-drama film, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha. The film stars Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar in the lead roles, with Anupam Kher, Sudhir Pandey, and Divyendu Sharma in supporting roles, and is co-produced by Akshay Kumar and Neeraj Pandey.
On August 11, 2017, the film was released. The film is a satirical comedy that supports government programs in India to promote sanitation, with a focus on eliminating open defecation, particularly in rural regions.
The film was a commercial triumph, becoming Akshay Kumar’s highest-grossing film of all time, as well as his highest-grossing film worldwide, and his first to reach the Rupees 300 million mark. The film illustrates India’s bathroom crisis, which is exacerbated by religious and cultural concerns.

In rural areas of India, people still lack this basic need, which annoys women and leads to sexual harassment. At the 63rd Filmfare Awards, the film garnered three nominations, including Best Film, Best Director for Narayan Singh, and Best Actor for Akshay Kumar.
Vickey Prasad, Manas-Shikhar, and Sachet-Parampara composed the film’s soundtrack, and Siddharth-Garima wrote the lyrics. On June 28, 2017, the film’s first tune, ‘Hans Mat Pagli,’ sung by Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal, was uploaded online.
