Dennis William Quaid, better known as Dennis Quaid, is an American actor who has appeared in a range of dramatic and humorous roles. He was born on April 9, 1954. Breaking Away (1979), The Right Stuff (1983) are just a few of his major credits.

Breaking Away is a 1979 American comedy-drama movie written by Steve Tesich and produced and directed by Peter Yates. It portrays a group of four male youths who had recently graduated from high school in Bloomington, Indiana. Dennis Christopher, Dennis Quaid, Daniel Stern, Jackie Earle Haley, Barbara Barrie, Paul Dooley, and Robyn Douglass are among the cast members of the movie.

Tesich won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for Breaking Away in 1979, while the film was nominated in four other categories, including Best Picture. It also garnered three Golden Globe nominations and won the Best Film award at the 1979 Golden Globe Awards.

The movie was named ninth on the American Film Institute’s (AFI) list of America’s 100 Most Inspiring Movies in 2006. After surveying over 1,500 people in the creative community, AFI also released it’s 10 Top 10—the finest ten films in ten classic American film genres—in June 2008.
