Ali Fazal is clearly feeling the love and the emotions that come with it. After witnessing a packed Gaiety Cinema go berserk for Mirzapur: The Movie last evening, the actor took to Instagram to share a glimpse of the overwhelming reception he received from fans when he visited the iconic theatre.
For every actor who comes to Mumbai, playing to a packed house at the iconic Gaiety Cinema is a dream. For Ali, watching the theatre turn into a sea of fans cheering, chanting and celebrating Guddu Pandit made the moment even more special. From the crowds to the constant chants of Guddu Bhaiya, the sheer madness was a testament to just how deeply the character has resonated with audiences.
And understandably, the actor was emotional. Sharing a video from his visit on his social media, Ali wrote about standing inside a housefull Gaiety and how witnessing Mirzapur: The Movie receive this kind of love was a moment that would stay with him for a lifetime. He said, “Every actor who comes to Mumbai dreams of one thing… seeing their film play to a packed house at Gaeity. last night, i stood there and watched it happen. Didn’t mean to get emotional.. just love for all of you. Seeing Gaiety house full for Mirzapur : the movie, standing there with my wife, was one of those moments that will stay with me for a lifetime. Like i said. Yeh aap sabka pyar hai jisse hum hain.. aur kahaaniyaan sunaani ki chul hai humein,” he wrote, before ending with a heartfelt, “Thank you for making Guddu Pandit yours.”
The emotion was also spotted by his wife, actress Richa Chadha, who chimed in in the comments with a rather fitting response: “An emo man is a sexy man.” ❤️
It is a particularly significant moment for Ali, whose portrayal of Guddu Pandit has transformed the character into a pop-culture phenomenon and made him a household name. Now, with Mirzapur: The Movie turning the hugely successful OTT franchise into a theatrical phenomenon, the love has only grown bigger.
