Aditya Kripalani’s independent drama Main Actor Nahin Hoon, starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Chitrangada Satarupa, is now available on Amazon Prime Video India. After a festival run and theatrical stops in the UK and India, the film has moved to a wider digital audience on the streamer.
Written and directed by Kripalani, the film premiered on Prime Video India on September 9, 2026. It began its theatrical journey in the UK in November 2025 before releasing in Indian cinemas on May 8, 2026. Bollywood Hungama reported the streaming availability on September 14, noting that the project is currently live for subscribers in India.
The story follows Mouni (Satarupa), a frustrated actor in Mumbai, who connects with Adnan Baig (Siddiqui), a retired banker living in Frankfurt, through an online film audition. What starts as an acting exercise becomes a personal exchange that pushes both characters toward greater emotional openness. The production was shot simultaneously in India and Germany across 28 days, with the leads performing together in real time over video calls while Kripalani monitored feeds from both cities.
Before its Indian theatrical release, Main Actor Nahin Hoon screened on the international festival circuit, beginning with its world premiere at Cinequest. Siddiqui won Best Actor at the New York Indian Film Festival, while Satarupa received Best Actor (Female) and Kripalani won Best Director (Jury) at the DC South Asian Film Festival. Siddiqui also chose not to charge an acting fee for the independent project.
The film is produced by Sweta Chhabria Kripalani, Aditya Kripalani and Faizuddin Siddiqui under Mumba Devi Motion Pictures and Side Hero Entertainment. Supporting cast includes Naveen Kasturia, Ayushi Gupta, Yasir Iftikhar Khan, Vibhawari Deshpande, Meenakshi Arundhati and Aarti Desai. ReelN Ltd handled the UK release; Platoon One distributed in India.
