Tigmanshu Dhulia’s long-gestating crime drama Ghamasaan finally has its digital date. The film, which pits Pratik Gandhi against Arshad Warsi in a morally grey Bundelkhand face-off, premieres exclusively on ZEE5 on September 11, 2026.
The story follows Aditya (Gandhi), an uncompromising IPS officer sent into a region shaped by crime, caste tensions and political influence, and Maharaj (Warsi), a feared dacoit whose hold on the jungle and the people around him blurs the line between outlaw and local power centre. Ishita Dutta and Rajpal Yadav appear in key supporting roles. Official materials and trailer coverage frame the clash as more than a standard cop-versus-criminal chase — a battle over control, loyalty and survival in a world where clean heroes are hard to find.
That tone fits Dhulia’s career-long interest in Hindi heartland grey zones. Ghamasaan reached him before the COVID period, wrapped in 2023, and screened at the MAMI Mumbai Film Festival, Cinevesture International Film Festival and the Chicago South Asian Film Festival before locking its ZEE5 window. The festival run already gave the film a critical foothold; the streaming premiere opens it to a much wider audience.
The project is produced by Jyoti Deshpande for Jio Studios, Piiyush Singh, Abhayanand Singh, Saurabh Gupta and Ashwini Chaudhary for Golden Ratio Films, and Miten Shah for Yaelstar Films, in collaboration with ZEE5. It sits alongside Sumo Didi and Ikroop on the same partners’ slate — three different genres, one shared bet on tougher Hindi storytelling for streaming.
Warsi has spoken about playing Maharaj as a chance to explore darkness and unpredictability far from his comic register, while Gandhi’s Aditya is positioned as a controlled, strategic counterweight. With the trailer already in circulation and the September 11 premiere two days away, Ghamasaan is set up as one of the sharper Hindi crime dramas on the early-September OTT calendar.
