Farah Khan Kunder (born January 9, 1965, is an Indian film director, producer, actor, dancer, and choreographer best known for her work in Hindi films. She is currently 56 years old.
Khan has choreographed dance sequences for over a hundred songs in over 80 films, receiving six Filmfare Awards and the National Film Award for Best Choreography. She’s also worked on Tamil films and foreign productions like Marigold: An Adventure in India, Monsoon Wedding, Bombay Dreams, and the Chinese films Perhaps Love and Kung Fu Yoga, for which she received Tony and Golden Horse Award nominations.
She has recently gone on to become a film director, getting nominations for the Filmfare Best Director Award for both her first and second films, Main Hoon Na (2004) and Om Shanti Om (2007).
When Michael Jackson’s Thriller music video was released, Khan was a sociology student at St. Xavier’s College in Bombay. She was so moved that, although never having danced before, it became her vocation. Khan took over as choreographer when Saroj Khan left the film Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar.
On December 9, 2004, Farah Khan married Shirish Kunder, the editor of her film Main Hoon Na. Since then, they’ve collaborated on films including Jaan-E-Mann, Om Shanti Om, and Tees Maar Khan. In 2008, Khan used in vitro fertilization to give birth to triplets — one son and two girls.
