Jamie Foxx (born Eric Marlon Bishop) is an actor, comedian, and singer from the United States. He joined the cast of the sketch comedy show In Living Color in 1991 and stayed till the show ended in 1994.

Ray is a 2004 American biographical musical drama film about the life of rhythm and blues musician Ray Charles, set across 30 years. Taylor Hackford co-produced and directed the privately made film. Universal Pictures released it on October 29, 2004. It earned great reviews from critics, who praised Foxx’s performance in particular. It was also a financial triumph, generating $124.7 million worldwide on a $40 million production budget.

Ray garnered numerous awards and nominations, including two nods for the 77th Academy Awards. Foxx won the Academy Award for Best Actor, as well as the Golden Globe, BAFTA, Screen Actors Guild, and Critics’ Choice Awards for his performance, making him only the second actor to win all five major lead actor awards for the same performance, and the only one to win the Golden Globe in the Musical or Comedy category rather than the Drama category.
