Break Point is a seven-part documentary series that was released recently on Zee5. It is about the tennis icons’ Mahesh Bhupati and Leander Paes’s complicated relationship. The two went on to lift some notable titles but also had a public fallout. This series takes us through these emotions.
Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi at one time seemed almost indestructible. But then it happened. The series takes us through the dynamics that the two shared off the field. Interestingly they have not used much of the existing match footage or BTS. This has enabled them to keep the storytelling simple. However, mind you it is every bit compelling.
The series has been jointly directed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari and Nitesh Tiwari. This is the first time that the two of them have come together to direct something and the end result is great.
The series is pacy and keep you engaged. While one thinks that they know what went between the two but what we know is just the tip of the iceberg. It is an interesting watch and keeps people engaged.
It is the show which is an entirely new genre. Hopefully, this will pave way for more shows of similar nature to crop up.
