‘Ranabaali’ First-Half BGM Complete; Vijay–Rashmika Period Drama Locked for October 16

The makers of Ranabaali have confirmed that background score work on the film’s first half is finished, keeping the Vijay Deverakonda–Rashmika Mandanna period action drama on course for its worldwide theatrical release on October 16, 2026.

In an official social update carried by IANS on September 15, the film’s handle said post-production is progressing smoothly and that the title is set to be wrapped well ahead of the announced Dussehra window. “The BGM work for the first half has already been completed, and everything is right on track for the grand release this Dussehra,” the makers wrote, tagging the October 16 date.

Directed by Rahul Sankrityan and produced by Naveen Yerneni and Y. Ravi Shankar, with T-Series presenting, Ranabaali is mounted as a pan-India period project set against a 19th-century British-era backdrop. Trade and press notes place the story between 1854 and 1878, drawing on historical accounts rather than a straight biopic. Vijay Deverakonda plays the title role; Rashmika Mandanna plays his wife Jayamma — their third pairing after Geetha Govindam and Dear Comrade. Arnold Vosloo, known internationally for The Mummy, appears as antagonist Sir Theodore Hector. Ajay-Atul are composing the music.

Days earlier, Sankrityan had shared that Rashmika had wrapped her portions and that he named Jayamma after his mother — a detail that underlined how personal the character’s writing has been for the filmmaker. With first-half BGM now done and shooting portions closing out, the unit’s public message is clear: the October 16 date is the focus, not another shift.

For Movified readers tracking Telugu festive calendars, this is a concrete mid-September progress check — score work advancing, Dussehra release intact, and the Deverakonda–Mandanna reunion still locked as one of the season’s bigger theatrical bets.
