Randhir Kapoor, Jaya Bhaduri, Balraj Sahni, and Nirupa Roy feature in Jawani Diwani, a 1972 Bollywood musical romance film directed by Narender Bedi and starring Randhir Kapoor, Jaya Bhaduri, Balraj Sahni, and Nirupa Roy. This was also Kader Khan’s first time writing dialogue. The songs ‘Jaane Jaan Doodta Phir Ruha,’ ‘Saamne Yeh Koun Aaya,’ ‘Nahi Nahi Abhi Nahi,’ and ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Diwani’ by R.D. Burman are among the most well-known from the film. The film was a box office success in India, where it was the ninth highest-grossing picture.
Jaya Bhaduri wanted to break out of the girl-next-door image after her Bollywood first film, Guddi (1971), by playing a beautiful part in the film. Aralia Hoovugalu, a Kannada remake, was released in 1991.
Madhu (Nirupa Roy) has a crush on Ravi Anand (Balraj Sahni), the son of a Thakur brother’s (Iftekhar) employee. When they marry, the Thakur cuts all links with them, and she goes in with Ravi and his younger brother, Vijay, at Ravi’s home (Randhir Kapoor). Vijay then meets a girl at school, Neeta (Jaya Bhaduri), who has normal troubles with her parents. She is revealed to be the Thakur’s daughter, who has been promised to Benny Sinha in marriage (Narendra Nath).
The soundtrack for this film was composed and produced by R. D. Burman. Anand Bakshi wrote the lyrics for the song. On the Binaca Geetmala yearly list of 1972, the song ‘Jaane Jaan Dhoondta Phir Raha’ was ranked #26.
