On Vinayaka Chaturthi — Monday, September 14, 2026 — the makers unveiled the teaser for Nayanthara’s much-awaited Mookuthi Amman 2 – Maha Sakthi. If the first film felt like a wink at the system, this glimpse suggests a different kind of devotion: bigger canvas, sharper stakes, and a goddess who still answers when the world tips toward chaos.
The sequel follows RJ Balaji’s 2020 Mookuthi Amman, but the director’s chair this time belongs to Sundar C. Written by Venkatt Ragavan, the teaser sketches a story that spans past and present. A queen sacrifices herself to save her son, the prince, from invading enemies. Mookuthi Amman returns to protect the child — and then a new evil power surfaces in the form of a mysterious woman played by Regena Cassandrra. Where the original leaned into social satire and comedy, Sundar C’s film looks poised as a serious Amman spectacle, the kind that fills theatres with incense, chants, and collective breath-holding.
Nayanthara leads a crowded ensemble that also includes BR Vijayakumar, Urvashi, Yogi Babu, Ilavarasan, Maina Nandini, Ramachandra Raju, MG Abhinaya and Shruthy S, with Y Gee Mahendra, Sneha and Khushboo also mentioned (cameo details still unclear). Music is by HipHop Tamizha, with cinematography by Gopinath Venugopal and editing by Fenny Oliver. Ishari K. Ganesh produces under Vels Film International.
Theatrical release is locked for November 6 during Deepavali — a festive corridor that thrives on faith-meets-cinema energy. For Movified readers watching Kollywood’s year-end calendar, this is the Nayanthara Amman sequel to circle: teaser out now, theatres on Deepavali eve, and a tone shift that promises less satire and more sacred scale.
